Appliance Removal

What We Do with the Appliances We Pick Up
At 2EZ Hauling, we always dispose of your old appliances in the most environmentally friendly way possible. If we can find a charitable organization that could use the appliance, that is always our first choice. We only offer the appliance for donation when it’s still in good working order.

When this isn’t possible, we contract with several recycling centers to breakdown your unwanted appliances into recyclable parts to live a new life as another useful item. The workers at these centers separate the non-recyclable parts and hazardous materials from the recyclable materials. Our recycling center contacts tell us that glass, metal, and plastic are the most valuable materials found in old appliances. This process prevents toxic substances and chemicals found in some appliances from leaking into the air, groundwater, and soil.

We are happy to accept these appliances and more:

Air conditioners
Ceiling fans, Dishwashers,Dryers,Freezers
Lawnmowers,Microwaves,Ovens,
Refrigerators,Stoves, Trash compactors
Washing machines, Water heaters.

Don’t worry if you don’t see your specific appliance on this list. There’s a good chance we can still take it and you can use the space in your garage for something other than old appliance storage.

Other Options to Get Rid of Unwanted Appliances
Over the past decade, appliance manufacturers have made a big effort to produce more energy-efficient home and commercial products. To encourage people to buy them, some utility companies offer rebates on the new purchase and/or recycling of the old appliances. It’s worth a call to your local utility company in the Oakland area to find out what they offer.

Many municipalities around the country offer curbside pick-ups for old appliances a few times a year. Although you pay a fee, you will only need to haul the unwanted appliance to your curb and not into a vehicle to bring to a drop-off site yourself.

Another possibility is to check with local charities such as Habitat for Humanity or the Salvation Army to see if it needs an appliance in working order and would be willing to pick it up. The benefit of doing this is that you can claim a deduction for the fair resale price of the item on your taxes next year.

Carpet Removal

Most Carpet is Highly Recyclable
Like most of your peers, you care about the impact your choices have on the environment and the preservation of our natural resources. This is as true when purchasing new carpet and getting rid of old carpet as it is any other time. 2EZ Hauling understands and shares your commitment. We are also happy to let you know that carpet is one of the easier household items to recycle because it contains large amounts of plastic fibers.

If no charitable organization has use for the carpet, we will make sure that it goes on to serve many other useful purposes by delivering it to a local recycling center assuming the carpet the condition allows for it. We are far more likely to drop your carpet off at a recycling center since many charities require carpet to be new or at least intact before accepting it.

Avoid Placing Your Old Carpet in a Container for Trash Pick-Up
Due to its bulky size, most municipalities do not allow trash collectors to accept old carpet placed in a trash bin. If you prefer to throw it away, you will need to wait until your local government establishes a specific day for picking up bulk trash items. You do have the option of renting a roll-off dumpster and loading all unwanted carpet into it at the same time. One benefit of doing this is that you can dispose of tack strips and carpet padding at the same time. After completing this step, you would need to deliver the full dumpster to the dump yourself.

Consider Hiring a Professional if You Have Never Removed Carpet
Removing existing carpet is a long, involved process that requires several specific tools. As mentioned above, it’s also labor-intensive. Why do the job yourself when the team at EZ Junk Hauling has so much experience with carpet removal? We make it as simple as possible for you by removing your old carpet and hauling it away immediately so you never need to think about it again.

Has the worry about removing and getting rid of your old carpet hampered your excitement about getting new carpet? We hate to see that happen. Just contact 2EZ Hauling today to request a free estimate or to schedule a pick-up date.

E-Waste Disposal

tems We Accept for Pick-Up
The following is a list of the most common items that our junk haulers remove from customer homes and businesses:

Computers
Computer monitors
Copy machines
CD players
DVD players
Mobile phones
Printers
Shredders
Smartphones
Tablets
Televisions
VCRs
Video consoles and games
However, don’t worry if you don’t see your specific e-waste item on this list. If your item doesn’t contain hazardous waste, there’s a good change we can pick it up and repurpose it for you.

E-Waste Can Provide Multiple Resources When Recycled
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), e-waste produces more raw recyclable material than any other type of household item. A one-ton circuit board, for example, contains at least 40 and as much as 800 times more gold than one metric ton of iron ore. It also contains 40 times the copper. Check out these other e-waste facts provided by the EPA:

Every year, Americans throw out phones that could provide gold and silver for recycling valued at more than $60 billion dollars.
If one million people recycled their laptops instead of throwing them away, it would save enough energy to power 3,700 homes annually.
For every million cell phones recycled, Americans collectively receive the benefit of 33 pounds of palladium, 75 pounds of gold, 7,700 pounds of silver, and 35,000 pounds of copper.
The EPA estimates that only 12 percent of recyclable material goes to recycling plants while the other 88 percent goes in the trash or sits around homes and businesses.
Options to Get Rid of Your Unwanted Electronics
If you have an item like a smartphone or computer still in good working order, you may be able to get money for it from a reseller. Keep in mind that the reseller may pay less than what you could sell it for yourself since the company still needs to make a profit on your item. However, it’s a better chance of a guaranteed sale than placing an ad or trying to sell the item at a garage sale.

You might also consider contacting charities yourself to see if any could use your e-waste. This would require you to deliver the items yourself, potentially to several organizations. Since 2EZ Hauling partners with several charities, it would be easier to work with us to get all your electronics delivered at once.

Furniture Removal

Types of Furniture We Accept
At EZ Junk Hauling, we are pleased to accept nearly any type of furniture to put to a useful purpose. In most cases, we pass along furniture still in good condition to a worthwhile charity or send furniture to recycling centers. Once there, the staff breaks down your unwanted furniture into recyclable parts that other businesses use to create new products. The following are just some of the types of furniture we accept:

Armories
Bed frames
Bookcases
Boxes
Chairs
Chests
Coaches
Coffee tables
Cubicles
Desks
Dressers
Filing cabinets
Hutches
Loveseats
Mattresses
Nightstands
Sectionals
Sofa beds
Sofas
Tables
Tool units
Wardrobes
Except for certain hazardous materials, we attempt to take every piece of furniture that our customers no longer need.

Other Options for Furniture Removal
While we make an excellent option for getting unwanted furniture out of your sight, you may also want to consider some other ideas. If you have just purchased new furniture from a retailer, for example, it might offer free pick up of your old furniture prior to delivery day. It could even be 2EZ Hauling that picks up your furniture. The only difference is that the retailer pays our fee instead of you.

If you’re the creative type, you might consider re-purposing your old furniture in several different ways. A bookshelf can become a display case, unused wooden chairs can become a nightstand, or an old sofa can go in the man cave, she shed, or game room. You might be surprised at what you can do with a bit of imagination and determination not to send your old furniture to the landfills.

Some charitable organizations, including Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity, will pick up gently used furniture in larger cities. That could be an option to pursue. If your preferred charitable organization cannot pick up your old furniture, consider trying to sell it online on places like eBay or Craig’s List. However, you do need to consider that you may need to haul the furniture to meet the buyer if you don’t feel comfortable with him or her coming to your home. You will also need to haul the furniture yourself if your city government has a drop-off site.

Garage Cleanup

There’s More to a Garage Cleanout Than You Might Think

While the biggest part of any garage cleanout is getting rid of unwanted items, you can depend on the crew from 2EZ Hauling to do much more than that. After loading your unwanted items into one of our large trucks, we will sweep your garage and relocate any items that you would like in a different place. We will even pick up unwanted clutter and trash and throw it away or recycle it for your if possible.

Since people store nearly anything in their garages, we are willing to accept most items except for those containing hazardous waste. The best way to set up an appointment is to contact EZ Junk Hauling for an estimate. We will then arrive at your home to inspect your garage in person. We provide a free estimate once you let us know exactly what you want removed and what else you need us to do.

We Keep Your Unwanted Garage Items Out of Landfills Whenever Possible

2EZ Hauling is pleased to work with several charitable organizations to find a new purpose for your unwanted items. As long as anything is still in good condition, we first try to see if a charitable organization can find another person who could use it. If that doesn’t work out, we contract with several local recycling centers to breakdown the items into parts that manufacturers can use again to create something new.

Tips for Organizing What’s Left in Your Garage

Don’t feel discouraged if you hire us to pick up several items from your garage and it still looks disorganized to you. A simple pegboard may be all you need to place smaller items such as tools into groupings that make sense for you. You might also wish to go through the garage to see if you can find anything to donate to Goodwill or a similar organization on your own. With enough unwanted items, you could even consider holding a garage sale.
